This week, I focused on implementing the feedback I got from my peers, additional research, and my discussion with Mick from our one-on-ones.

After a lot of back and forth, I ultimately decided to go with just one theme, to really help visualize the level of immersion this can offer, as well as have something unique to present at the showcase.

A lot of the peer feedback also had to do with the game itself, so I figured by focusing on one theme, I could properly showcase and incorporate my peers.

This revelation came after my discussion with Mick, but when I was presenting the old version, he said my thesis seems more like a proof of a concept or idea, rather than a hard product I’m gonna sell to investors.

Some questions he asked were:

  1. What are the levers people can push and pull on?

  2. What improvement happens from the task? Hard code that process.

  3. What are the main steps of the game? Ideate around them, what are things you can do in a gaming environment that moves the outside?

He gave some really interesting example ideas based purely on what I told him, like having guests read something that adds to the world: such as a book where with each guest, it adds a line, culminating in an audiobook for the world that has never existed before.

He suggested a storyboard type of project and gave an example of images animated in RunwayML. I thought this was an interesting idea, so I decided to take that concept and create an animated storyboard/demo video of how something like this could work, so I'd be submitting a video for my thesis. I took this idea and then tooled it into my progress update presentation, which I am linking below.
