Week 5
This week was about properly putting into motion my plans for demo day, as well as implementing the feedback I received from Mick and my peers.
Some of the feedback I got was:
Demo my world, and have the visual identity clearly defined.
Get into the weeds, get down into the details and nitty-gritty of the game.
Look into depthmaps to try and turn my Midjourney images into a 3d environment
Build two monsters for two outcomes to show the extremes of the creation processes can be huge.
I started by Building a visual identity for my world based on the Unreal engine Environment I chose last week. This was a great way for me to restrict my aesthetic choices and give Midjourney something to work off of.
These Midjourney images I created as stills for the setup shots for my film, which I will AI animate to add more to my world than the Unreal environment can provide.
I Began animation in Pikalabs, having gotten access to version 1 a while back. The last time I used it was with the Beta model, so I unknowingly continued with it.

Eventually, I realized there was a profound difference between the Beta and 1.0 models, the newer one has much nicer quality. However, it has a similar interface to Runway ML, which I didn’t enjoy using, especially when it came to the credit system they now share.

With the newer model, I was able to get a much nicer range of camera motion, and a greater illusion of depth. True to Pika, I did have to try animating a single shot multiple times, which is a universal experience across video GenAI, having had a similar experience on Runway ML.
I used this to animate all the shots I showed, so I have about 15 seconds of footage, which makes up my first scene.
Things to do before Demo Day:
Edit together current shots
Creation of monsters
Creation of storyboard
